Connecting Canadians to what matters most
Our TELUS team has stepped up to address pressing social issues, made unprecedented investments in technology to bridge geographic and socio-economic divides and supported the development of more vibrant and sustainable communities. Since 2000, TELUS has invested $175 billion to connect Canadians to the people, resources and information that make their lives better.
Mobility for Good
Through TELUS Mobility for Good™, we are helping 20,000 young Canadians who are aging out of the foster care system to build their independence and confidence. Equipped with a free TELUS smartphone and 3GB rate plan, they will have a reliable connection for prospective employers, post-secondary institutions and healthcare professionals, and will be able to stay connected with friends and family as they transition to independent living.
Internet for Good
We believe no child should be left with their potential unrealized. We know that access to the Internet gives families in need the opportunity to succeed in our digital society. Through TELUS Internet for Good™, we are providing 110,000 low-income families in B.C., Alberta and Quebec, with access to low-cost, high-speed Internet and digital literacy training and tools in their homes.
Health for Good
One of the hallmarks of our country is our universal healthcare system. Through TELUS Health for Good™, we are bringing necessary medical care, including electronic health records, to 11,500 vulnerable people living on the streets, connecting them to resources, services and care in an environment that offers privacy, stability and dignity.
Assistive Tech for Good
Through TELUS Assistive Tech for Good™, TELUS customers with disabilities that require a customized solution involving assistive technology, such as additional hardware or software to independently access their smartphone or tablet, can receive specialized assistance. The program will help with selecting the right customized solution, which involves a TELUS wireless device, compatible assistive technology, set-up and training needed to independently control their personal smartphone or tablet.
Empowering the responsible use of technology
At TELUS, we understand the power of technology and all the good it can help us achieve. We also understand that technology introduces privacy and security risks, and has the potential to enable negative and cruel behaviour. Through our TELUS Wise program, we are encouraging Canadians to become informed digital citizens, while simultaneously protecting our youth online. Since the program launched in 2013, we have reached more than 200,000 Canadians through TELUS Wise workshops, providing the tools and knowledge to stay safe online.
TELUS Wise 24 hour challenge
Not only are we empowering youth to stay safe online through TELUS Wise, we are also helping them stay well in our digital world, with our newest workshop, TELUS Wise happiness. This video is shared in the workshop and highlights the experience of several teens who were challenged to spend 24 hours without their phone.
Demonstrating how we are the most caring company in the world
Our award-winning culture of caring underpins our passion for giving. The spirited volunteerism of our 85,000 team members and retirees worldwide reinforces TELUS’ position as the most giving company in the world.
TELUS Days of Giving
Throughout 2018, the TELUS team continued to give with our hearts and our hands, including the 36,000 volunteers who participated in our hallmark TELUS Days of Giving events across the country. These dedicated members of our TELUS family supported their communities through nearly 2,000 initiatives in the year, including sorting 68,000 pounds of food at food banks, filling 13,500 backpacks with school supplies for children in need and serving 27,000 healthy meals to feed the hungry. Through our TELUS Days of Giving in Canada and around the world, we are inspiring hope and improving the circumstances of tens of thousands of our fellow citizens.
Enabling better health outcomes through better health information
TELUS is committed to providing all Canadians with the tools, information and support to enable them to live healthier and happier lives. We are working toward a digital future in which healthcare professionals can readily leverage artificial intelligence alongside the insights provided through genomics, bio-analysis and imaging in order to deliver optimized preventative wellness protocols as well as disease treatments for each patient on a customized basis.
Babylon by TELUS Health
We are putting healthcare in Canadian’s hands to drive better health outcomes for all. Our Babylon by TELUS Health service empowers Canadians with immediate and reliable medical knowledge and support. Our smartphone application offers an expansive symptom checker powered by an extensively researched artificial intelligence engine, as well as a one-on-one virtual consultation feature, allowing patients to speak directly with a doctor within a couple of hours from the comfort of their homes or on the move. *Doctor consultations coming soon to residents outside of B.C.
TELUS Friendly Future Foundation
The TELUS Friendly Future Foundation is a registered charity helping to fund programs of local, grassroots Canadian charitable organizations. The Foundation’s funding supports socially innovative programs in the areas of health and education for the most vulnerable populations, specifically youth, so they can thrive in our digital society.
