Give Where We Live: Angel’s story

Helping an inspiring community champion give back to sick kids

In 2014, our Give Where We Live campaign invited Canadians to join us in building a stronger, healthier Canada. The campaign encouraged Canadians to share how they care for their community or favourite cause by sharing photos and stories on social media using #givewherewelive.

We received thousands of inspiring responses, with one in particular truly standing out.

Angel, a passionate 18-year old from Port Alberni, B.C. shared with us that through her non-profit business, Hugginz by Angel, she sews special hospital pajamas, blankets and hats for sick kids and kids with special needs. She frequents the hospital for her own surgeries and knows how scary it can be, so she has made it her life’s mission to help other sick kids.

"I fill the blankets with hugs, prayers and love for the kids."

Angel

We were so moved by Angel’s generosity, we wanted to help. Watch Angel’s story and see how we mobilized to support her and the amazing work she does.

Canadians were eager to join the conversation and share Angel’s story. For every share of Angel’s video, we donated $1 to Hugginz for Angel, resulting in an additional $15,000 to help Angel continue her important and heartfelt work.
