Low backup battery issues with your TELUS Secure Business security system

Learn more about the possible causes that may occur with your security system’s backup battery.

Your security system has a backup battery that powers your keypad and control panel during a power outage. Most backup batteries are rechargeable, which will recharge after the power has been restored. These batteries have a life expectancy and require replacement after some use. Most backup batteries can last five years of use or longer.

When your security system loses power, the battery will take over in powering your system for a specific amount of time. Depending on the panel size and battery type, the backup battery can last up to two hours of continuous use. If the system uses the backup battery long enough, we will receive a low battery signal from the system.

Even if the power has been restored and your system is actively recharging your backup battery, we may still receive a low battery signal, and we will contact you or your contact list for this signal. In most cases, these batteries can take up to 24 hours to recharge when the power has been restored.

Below are the possible causes and resolutions of these low backup battery issues.
