Martin Kaatz, DVM, PhD
Dr. Martin Kaatz is a specialist in Animal Health Management with a robust academic and research background. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) and Ph.D. from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany, in 2006.
Following his graduation, Dr. Kaatz investigated the pathogenesis of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) in cattle at the German Federal Research Institute for Animal Health. This critical research experience facilitated his involvement in the European-Canadian research program aimed at transferring BSE-detection methods to identify Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) prion proteins.
Dr. Kaatz moved to Canada shortly thereafter and became associated with the Lethbridge Animal Clinic in 2015. His extensive experience in animal health management and his significant contributions to prion disease research make him a valuable asset to the veterinary community and the organizations he serves.
