Upon receiving a new device (or performing a factory data reset on your current device), you will need to follow the Initial Setup steps to activate and configure your device.

Current Step: 1 - Press the Home button to get started.

  4. 4 - Tap Set Up Manually.
  5. 5 - Select a Wi-Fi network you'd like to connect to.
    • Note: Wi-Fi hotspots may have security limitations. If necessary, enter a password and tap Join.
  6. 6 - Tap Continue.

    • Note: iPhone has fingerprint recognition called Touch ID. This allows you to unlock iPhone, just by touching it.
    • Note: For this tutorial, we're skipping Touch ID setup. You can enable Touch ID, but steps may vary based on what you choose. You can also adjust your Touch ID preferences later in settings.

  12. 12 - Tap Don't Transfer Apps & Data.
    • Note: For this tutorial, we're showing how to manually set up iPhone as a new device. You can also restore content from previous accounts or devices, but steps may vary based on what you choose.
  13. 13 - Tap the Apple ID field.
    • Note: If you don't have an Apple ID account yet, tap Don't have an Apple ID or forgot it?.
  14. 14 - Enter your Apple ID.
  15. 15 - Tap Next.
  16. 16 - Enter your password.

    • Note: You may be prompted to enter a Two Factor Authentication code before continuing. The code will be sent to one of your other Apple devices.
  18. 18 - Tap Agree.
    • Note: Review all terms and conditions before proceeding.

    • Note: iPhone has a personal assistant called Siri. Siri helps with tasks, reminders, searches and more.
    • Note: For this tutorial, we're skipping Siri during setup. You can enable Siri, but steps may vary based on what you choose. You can also adjust your Siri preferences later in settings.
  21. 21 - Tap Set Up Later in Settings.
    • Note: Screen Time is a feature that creates weekly reports based off your usage behavior. You can also use Screen Time to set up parental controls for a child's device.
    • Note: For this tutorial, we're skipping Screen Time during setup. You can enable Screen Time, but steps may vary based on what you choose. You can also adjust your Screen Time preferences later in settings.

    • Note: Enabling app analytics helps Apple improve its products and services.
    • Note: For this tutorial, we're skipping app analytics during setup. You can enable app analytics, but steps may vary based on what you choose. You can also adjust your app analytics preferences later in settings.
  23. 23 - Tap Continue.
    • Note: True Tone Display automatically adapts to ambient lighting for a consistent user experience in different environments. Touch and hold See Without True Tone Display to temporarily disable this feature.
    • Note: True Tone Display is enabled by default. You can also adjust your display preferences later in settings.
  24. 24 - Tap Continue.
    • Note: For this tutorial we are using Light mode. You can switch to Dark mode to have the system use a darker color palette for your device. Dark mode can help save battery as well.
  25. 25 - Tap Continue again.
  26. 26 - Tap Get Started launch iPhone.
  27. 27 - You've completed the steps!
