Resetting your Apple ID password

Learn how you can reset your password if you have forgotten it. You will need access to the email associated with your account.

  1. Step 1/12

    From your Apple ID sign in screen, tap Don't have an Apple ID or forgot it?.

    Note: You may access this screen from a number of places on your device. For this tutorial we are accessing it from Settings while trying to sign into your Apple profile.

    Tap Forgot Apple ID?.

    Enter your Apple ID.

    The indicator is towards the bottom.
  4. Step 4/12

    Tap Next.

    The indicator is in the top right.
  5. Step 5/12

    Enter your trusted phone number.

    The indicator is towards the bottom.
  6. Step 6/12

    Tap Next.

    The indicator is in the top right.
  7. Step 7/12

    Enter the verification code sent via text to your trusted number.

    The indicator is towards the bottom.
  8. Step 8/12

    Enter your new password.

    Note: If you have multiple Apple devices, you may be asked to enter the Passcode from one of your devices to confirm your identity.

  9. Step 9/12

    Tap the return key.

    The indicator is in the bottom right.
  10. Step 10/12

    Confirm your new password.

    The indicator is towards the bottom.

    Tap Next.
