Providing life-saving equipment during COVID–19

Jul 10, 2020

Ottawa’s Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation, a leading acute care facility that treats 500,000 patients each year in the Ottawa region, found itself in need of equipment such as ventilators and protective gear as the number of COVID-19 cases increased. Through a $195K grant, the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation helped Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation acquire three new ventilators, equipment that has been in high demand during the health crisis.

As some COVID-19 patients develop severe respiratory illnesses and the inability to breathe on their own, these ventilators help increase their oxygen intake and place them on a path to recovery. These new ventilators will not only positively impact the lives of people with COVID-19, but also continue to help other patients at Queensway Carleton Hospital requiring critical care.

The TELUS Friendly Future Foundation has rallied to provide funding for life-saving equipment for patients and vital protective gear for our front line healthcare heroes as hospitals across the country continue to deal with acute cases of COVID-19.

“Donations like this incredible gift from the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, along with existing support from our community, will ensure that our healthcare team continues to have the equipment and tools they need to care for our patient population during COVID-19 and beyond,” says Dr. Andrew Falconer, President and CEO of the Queensway Carleton Hospital.

“Thank you for your generosity, and thank you for your investment in healthcare excellence for our entire community.”

Together with the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation and other hospitals and healthcare facilities across Canada, we’re committed to supporting those in need and ensuring greater access to the equipment required to keep our communities safe and healthy.
