Contest Rules


There are four (4) methods of entry into the contest:

(1) Facebook: By commenting on TELUS contest related Facebook posts on TELUS, TELUSfr or Hockey Canada Facebook page;

(2) Instagram: By following the TELUS or TELUSfr Instagram accounts and commenting on TELUS contest related Instagram posts on TELUS or TELUSfr or Hockey Canada Instagram page;

(3) Twitter: By retweeting TELUS contest related Twitter posts on TELUS, TELUSfr or Hockey Canada Twitter page; or

(4) Post on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter that includes the hashtags #EndBullying or #ZéroIntimidation and tag @TELUS or @TELUSfr

No purchase necessary. Contest runs from November 25, 2019 12AM EST to January 6, 2020 11:59PM EST. Limit of one (1) entry per day per person during the contest period, regardless of method of entry (up to a maximum of six (6) entries during the contest period). This contest is intended for residents of Canada and will be interpreted according to Canadian law. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received during the contest period.

The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

An Entry that contains subject matter that, in the opinion of the contest administrators may violate community standards or is otherwise of questionable taste will be considered void. TELUS does not accept entries for this contest by any other means.


There will be eleven (11) prizes awarded in total. One (1) Grand Prize and ten (10) Secondary Prizes

Grand Prize:

Winner will receive a trip for two (2) to the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship Gold Medal game in Edmonton, AB (approximate retail value $5000). Grand Prize includes the following:

  • Round-trip flight for two (2) to Edmonton, AB (economy class) from and to the closest airport to the winner’s home that offers daily flights to Edmonton, AB
  • Hotel accommodation for two (2) nights in Edmonton, AB (one room/double occupancy)
  • Two (2) VIP tickets to the Gold Medal game on January 5, 2021

Actual value may vary depending on point of departure. Winner is not entitled to monetary difference between actual Grand Prize value and stated approximate value. If Grand Prize winner’s residence is within 300km of the event location a flight will not be provided and will be substituted with ground transportation. If the Grand Prize winner is unable to accept the Grand Prize for any reason, Grand Prize will be forfeited, and a new winner may be selected at the absolute discretion of TELUS. All expenses not specified in these Contest Rules, including without limitation, meals, gratuities, incidentals and other expenses, are the Grand Prize winner’s (and guests) sole responsibility. Winner and guest are also responsible for all costs incurred to and from the departure and arrival points. Winner and his/her guest must travel on the same itinerary. No changes to the travel dates or passenger names are permitted once the booking has been made. All flight and hotel arrangements will be handled by TELUS.

Secondary Prize:

Each winner will receive the following Secondary Prize:

  • One (1) signed [World Juniors] Official Team Canada hockey jersey (approximate retail value $250)

All prizes must be accepted as awarded, are not transferable and cannot be exchanged with TELUS for cash. TELUS reserves the right to substitute a prize, or any part thereof, which is, in their sole opinion, a prize of equivalent value and/or to terminate or withdraw this contest at any time. The chances of winning are dependent upon the total number of eligible entries received. One person cannot win multiple prizes.


To be eligible, entries must be received on or before the closing date of January 6, 2020 at 11:59 PM EST. This contest is open to all residents of Canada have reached the age of majority according to the laws of the Province where they reside. This contest excludes employees of TELUS Corporation, its affiliated companies or subsidiaries (“TELUS”) and TELUS’ advertising and promotional agencies and members of their respective households.

Anyone determined by TELUS to have used multiple Twitter, Instagram or Facebook accounts to enter the contest will be disqualified.


A random draw to select all winners will take place on or about January 17, 2020 at 3PM EST. Winner selection will take place at the TELUS office located at 25 York Street, Toronto, ON by a TELUS representative. The selected entrants will be notified by the selected entrant’s method of entry (i.e. Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) within four business days of the draw. If the selected entrant cannot be reached within four business days, or if the selected entrant does not meet all of the contest rules, another entrant will be selected from the remaining eligible entries. To win, the selected entrant must correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone or email at a prearranged mutually convenient time. The winning entrant must sign a standard Release form confirming compliance with the Contest Rules and releasing TELUS, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Hockey Canada, the International Ice Hockey Federation and their respective directors, officers, partnership interest holders, representatives, advertising and promotional agencies from any and all liability arising out of, pursuant to, or as a result of the carrying out of the contest including liability arising from the acceptance of and usage of the prizes as awarded. Failure to comply with the Contest Rules or to sign and return the Release form within 3 business days of receipt will result in disqualification and another entry will be drawn.


All entries become the property of TELUS. TELUS assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged or misdirected entries or for any failure of the website, for any problems or technical malfunction of any computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by TELUS on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from this contest. TELUS reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, cancel or suspend this contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond the reasonable control of TELUS and its advertising and promotional agencies, corrupt the security or proper administration of the contest or for any other reason. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with or unlawful in any way. Entries submitted by unauthorized means or by spamming will be disqualified. In the event that it has been determined that an entry has been made in an manner not sanctioned by these rules and/or an entrant has submitted more than the number of entries permitted by these rules, the entrant and all of his/her entries will be disqualified. Entrants agree to abide by the contest rules and the decisions of the contest judges, which are final. This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations.


By entering the contest, entrants consent to the use of their names, city of residence, photograph, voice and/or image for publicity purposes in all media used by TELUS, without payment or compensation. Entrants agree to TELUS’ use of the entrants’ personal information that may include contacting you regarding limited time offers, promotional offers and/or surveys. Entrants that are customers of TELUS at the time of entry and/or at the time of prize award must have their TELUS accounts in good standing (with a current account balance that is no more than 30 days past due) in order to be eligible to win the prize.
