Setting up the Watch for the first time
Apple Watch Series 4 on watchOS 7.0.0
Follow along to set up and activate your Apple Watch for the first time (or after a factory reset). After these few steps, you'll be able to begin using your Apple Watch.
- Step 1 of 24:
Tap the Information icon.
- Step 2 of 24:
Select your preferred language option.
- Step 3 of 24:
Select your region.
- Step 4 of 24:
Tap Start Pairing.
- Step 5 of 24:
Tap Start Pairing on iPhone.
- Step 6 of 24:
Tap Set Up for Myself.
- Step 7 of 24:
Tap Pair Apple Watch Manually.
Note: In this tutorial we are pairing Apple Watch manually. You can also automatically pair by placing Apple Watch in front of your camera and centering it within the viewfinder.
- Step 8 of 24:
Select your Watch.
- Step 9 of 24:
Enter the code displayed on your Watch.
- Step 10 of 24:
Tap Set Up as New Apple Watch.
- Step 11 of 24:
Select the wrist on which you will wear your Watch.
- Step 12 of 24:
Tap Agree.
- Step 13 of 24:
Tap Disable Route Tracking.
- Step 14 of 24:
Tap OK.
- Step 15 of 24:
Tap OK.
- Step 16 of 24:
Tap Don't Add Passcode.
Note: Adding a Passcode is covered in a separate tutorial.
- Step 17 of 24:
Tap Install Updates Manually.
Note: For this tutorial we are choosing to install updates manually. You may tap Continue to have your device automatically update.
- Step 18 of 24:
Tap Set Up Later in the Apple Watch App.
Note: Setting up Apple Pay is covered in a separate tutorial.
- Step 19 of 24:
Tap Continue.
- Step 20 of 24:
Tap Continue.
Note: Setting up Cellular data is covered in a separate tutorial.
- Step 21 of 24:
Tap Continue.
- Step 22 of 24:
Tap Install All.
Note: After this step, your Watch will sync itself to your iPhone. Feel free to use your iPhone normally in the meantime.
- Step 23 of 24:
Press the Digital Crown.
- Step 24 of 24:
You've completed the steps!
