Managing notifications for an app

Learn how to adjust notification settings for applications. You can have some applications notify you with a sound while others come in silently.
- Step 1 of 20:
From the Home screen, tap Settings.

Tap Notifications.
Note: For this tutorial, we're showing how to manage notifications for Messages. You can select a different option, but steps may vary based on which app you choose.

Tap Messages.
- Step 4 of 20:
Select the type of alerts you'd like to receive.
Note: You can also completely disable notifications for an app.
- Step 5 of 20:
Tap Banner Style.
- Step 6 of 20:
Select your preferences.
Note: Temporary notifications appear at the top of your screen and then disappear after several seconds. Persistent notificaitons must be dismissed manually.

Tap Messages.
- Step 8 of 20:
Tap Sounds.
- Step 9 of 20:
Select your preferences.
Note: You can also select your vibration preferences.

Tap Messages.
- Step 11 of 20:
Tap or slide the Badges switch ON or OFF.
Note: Badges show the number of unreviewed notifications for an app on the Home screen.

Tap Show Previews.
- Step 13 of 20:
Select your preferences.
Note: Limiting when your notification previews are visible can help protect important personal information.

Tap Messages.
- Step 15 of 20:
Tap Notification Grouping.
- Step 16 of 20:
Select your preferences.
Note: Grouped notifications allow you to view or dismiss mutiple notifications from the same app at once.

Tap Messages.
- Step 18 of 20:
Tap Repeat Alerts.
- Step 19 of 20:
Select your preferences.
Note: Alerts repeat in two minute intervals.
