Learn how to turn your device off and back on again. Restarting your device is often the first step when troubleshooting a device issue.

  1. Note: If you’re having problems with your device (e.g., an app is frozen, the screen isn’t responding, etc.), the first step in troubleshooting is to turn your phone off and on again (also known as a soft reset).

  2. Step 1 of 2:

    To restart iPad, simultaneously press and hold the Top button and the Home button until the Apple logo appears.

    Note: You should only use this feature when iPad isn't working correctly.
