Turning on Next-Gen Messaging

Active RCS on your device to take full advantage of the new features available in the Messages app.
Note: Next-Gen Messaging gives you enhanced chat messaging features in select conversations with other Next-Gen Messaging users including group chats, read receipts, audio messaging, and more.

From the Home screen, tap the Messages icon.
Note: Next-Gen Messaging requires Android 5.1 Lollipop or higher, Android Messages verison 4.3 or higher, and a connection to a wireless monthly plan with data or a Wi-Fi network on a compatible device.

Tap the Menu icon.

Tap Settings.

Tap Chat settings.

Tap or slide the Rich Communications settings switch to ON.
