Inserting and Removing the SIM Card

Learn how to insert and remove a SIM card from your device. Your cellular service is activated through your SIM card; without it you cannot use cellular features. Note that a SIM card tray removal tool may be needed.
Note: Don't touch the gold contacts on your SIM card. That could damage the card. If you’re using a new SIM card, you can activate it by contacting your carrier.
- Step 1 of 6:
With your device turned off, remove the phone's back cover by lifting from the finger notch.
- Step 2 of 6:
Remove the battery using the finger notch.
Note: You must have a nano SIM card inserted in your phone to place calls, access the internet, download apps and share pictures over your carrier's network.
- Step 3 of 6:
Slide the nano SIM card in or out of the slot with the gold contacts facing the front of the phone.
Note: A nano SIM card may already be inserted in your phone.
- Step 4 of 6:
Replace the battery, matching the contacts on the battery with the contacts in the battery slot.
- Step 5 of 6:
Replace the back cover, pressing on each corner to make sure it's secure.
