Set up TELUS email on your computer using Outlook 2010

Access your TELUS email account through Outlook 2010

In the Gmail web interface


  1. Click on the 9-dot menu and select Account
  2. Select Security on the left-hand side
  3. Scroll down to “Less secure app access” and select Turn on access
  4. Toggle “Allow less secure apps switch” to On
  5. Open your email account in a browser by visiting mail.google.com/a/telus.net
  6. Left-click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select See all settings
  7. From the top menu, select Forwarding and POP/IMAP

To use IMAP (recommended method):

  1. In the menu under IMAP access, select Enable IMAP
  2. Select Save changes

In Outlook 2010


  1. From your desktop, select Start
  2. From the Start menu, select Microsoft Office Outlook
  3. From the top taskbar , select File
  4. From the left pane , select Info
  5. Select +Add account. The Add new account window is displayed
  6. Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types
  7. Select Next
  8. Select Internet email
  9. Select Next
  10. Type the following information:
    • Your name: The name that will be displayed to recipients of emails you send
    • Email address: Your TELUS email address
    • Account type: Select IMAP
    • Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
    • Requires SSL: Yes
    • Port: 993
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
    • Requires TLS: Yes
    • Requires authentication: Yes
    • Port for TLS: 587
    • Check the Remember password check box
    • Password: Your email account password
    • Note: If you’ve forgotten your telus.net email password, please visit telus.com/reset to reset your password
  11. Full name or display name: Your name
  12. Account name, user name or email address: Your full email address
  13. Password: Your password
  14. Select OK
  15. Select Next
  16. Select Finish

Your TELUS email account is set up for use with Microsoft Office Outlook 2010.
