Internet Troubleshooting: Restart your modem or TELUS Boost Wi-Fi to restore your wireless speed
Locate your modem
If you don't know where your modem, extender, or TELUS Boost Wi-Fi is located in your home, the first place you should look is near a telephone jack, cable box or utility panel. If you have a basement, you might want to check there, too. If you are unable to locate your modem or Boost, please contact a TELUS technical support agent for assistance. If you have moved it, be sure to check that all your wires are properly connected.
Restart your modem
- To restart your modem, first, unplug the power cable from the back of the device. If you also have a TELUS Boost Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi extender devices, be sure to do the same for those, too.
- Wait 30 seconds before reconnecting the power cable on your modem, extender and/or Boost Wi-Fi
- Once restarted, the modem will take 2 minutes to re-boot
- Once 2 minutes has passed, check that you are connected to your Wi-Fi network in your device's Wi-Fi settings. Then, test your Internet connection again by opening your browser or using the My Wi-Fi app, if you have Boost Wi-Fi
Once you've restarted your modem, proceed to the next step: Run a speed test in the original location.
