Doctor consultations with Babylon by TELUS Health for UBC International students are covered through iMED at no additional cost. This includes the video consultation appointments with BC licensed doctors and the issuance of prescriptions, lab requisitions and specialist referral services. The actual cost of prescriptions, diagnostic tests and specialist appointments may or may not be covered by your iMED plan. Like any doctor you’ve seen in the past, our doctors can help treat a wide variety of health conditions. After seeing a doctor, you will be given a treatment plan. This might include referral for a face to face appointment, or to a hospital for tests, or to see a specialist.

We recommend seeing a doctor in-person if you require a physical examination or for issues concerning restricted medication. For medical emergencies, please call 911.

Prescriptions: After your Babylon by TELUS Health doctor generates your prescription, it is handled by our Clinical Support team. Your prescription will be sent to a pharmacy of your choice, where it should be received within one hour. You will need to provide proof of identification at the pharmacy to be able to collect your prescription.

Our concierge team will email you on the next steps if you require a physical clinic visit or ER visit with further instructions on what to do next. They will also provide the lab requisitions and referral documentation needed for you to set up these follow up appointments.

For diagnostic tests and specialist appointments, we strongly recommend that you contact MSH International for pre-authorization.

Babylon by TELUS Health is available on iPhones (iOS 12 and above) and Android (version 4.2 and above) smartphones.

You will need to be connected to the internet. Where possible we recommend using WiFi.

You can add dependents under the age of 16 on your account directly by going to “Family” in the “Me” tab. Family members over the age of 16 can create their own account and enter an eligible code under iMED.

All appointments booked through the app will be automatically scheduled in English. For a consultation in your preferred language, please contact our concierge team at 1-855-577-8838, who will be able to assist you in booking an appointment over the phone if we have a physician on staff that speaks your preferred language.

Please note that there may be a longer wait time for appointment and all consultation notes and medical documents will still be completed in English.

Your medical records on your Babylon by TELUS Health account will remain available once your iMed insurance has expired and you will still be able to use Babylon by TELUS Health to book virtual consultations with local doctors. However, it is important you update your profile with your BC Care Card number once you have started your MSP coverage. Inputting your BC Care Card number ensures you will not have to pay for doctor consults. Without a BC Care Card number, doctor consultations cost $65 per visit (and subject to change).

All of our doctors are experienced clinical professionals, qualified to practice Family Medicine in the relevant province of Canada, and registered with all relevant professional bodies, such as the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

We take data security and privacy extremely seriously. All of Babylon by TELUS Health’s clinical procedures meet or exceed industry and legal standards. We retain patient records in accordance with national best practice guidelines and all patient data is securely transmitted using industry-recognized encryption methods.

Babylon by TELUS Health is a free mobile application available through iOS and Google Playstore for your smartphone device, offering a personal health service all of which is accessed digitally.

No, unfortunately our doctors do not issue sick notes at the moment.

When signing up on the Babylon by TELUS Health app, fill in all your details upon registration and click “I have a code”. Enter the access code found on your digital iMed insurance card. To add an access code to an existing account you can click on the Me icon at the bottom or top of the home screen, click Membership > Membership Type, and enter the access code into the field available. If you have any problems please email support@babylonbytelushealth.com.

Your access code can be found on your iMED Insurance card. If you do not have your iMED Insurance card, please reach out to info@david-cummings.com.

Yes, all of our practitioners will conduct appointments from a private space. To ensure privacy on your side, please find a quiet and well-lit space where you feel comfortable and won’t be disturbed. All appointment records are encrypted and accessible only to you and members of the Babylon by TELUS Health senior support team overseeing your care, for the purpose of ensuring exceptional quality of service.

Once you have received confirmation of your MSP coverage and BC Care Card number, please enter it into your Babylon by TELUS Health app to ensure you can continue having doctor consultations at no cost. To do this, please follow the below instructions:

“Me” tab → Clinical Records → Personal details → “Edit” button in top right corner → input your Care Card number in the “Medical ID” field

If you are getting an error message when inputting your access code, there are a couple ways you can try to correct it:

• Double check that your first name, last name and birthdate matches what is shown on your iMed insurance card.
• If you have an apostrophe in your name (eg. “O’Hanna”), please exclude the apostrophe from your name upon registering on the app (eg. “OHanna”). Once you have successfully entered in the access code, you can go back to Me> Clinical Records > Personal Details> click “Edit” to add the apostrophe back into your name.
• If you have a first name only, please put your this name into both the first and last name fields when registering on the app.
