Our commitment to Indigenous Reconciliation in Canada

NEWS & UPDATESDATE POSTED JUNE 21, 2021

This June in Canada, we are commemorating National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21. It is an opportunity to honour and celebrate the culture and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples across Canada.

In Canada, June is a time to commemorate National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21. It is an opportunity to honour and celebrate the culture and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples across Canada, learn about Indigenous history, perspectives and diversity and work together to create a more equitable and inclusive society.

With TELUS Agriculture headquartered in Canada, we’re privileged to work, live and play on the traditional territories and treaty areas of many Indigenous communities and we are honoured to play a role in the responsible stewardship and interconnected nature of our food system, land and resources. We are committed to advancing and supporting TELUS’ commitment to Reconciliation starting with:

  • Establishing an Indigenous Reconciliation Committee of TELUS Agriculture team members to support ongoing training and an action plan.

  • Delivering shared history courses and additional resources for all TELUS Agriculture team members in Canada to deepen our understanding of our shared history in alignment with the “truth telling” part of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.

  • Creating a safe space for Indigenous voices and implementing Reconciliatory actions as we continue on our Reconciliation journey. One practice we have already implemented is acknowledging the lands and traditional territories we reside and work on in our events and meetings and in the footer of our website, as part of telus.com.

As part of TELUS, we’re committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for our team members, as well as building strong, meaningful, and collaborative relationships in the communities we live, work and serve.
