TELUS launches Boost Wi-Fi to increase wireless internet speed and coverage at home

Customizable network of Wi-Fi boosters ensure devices always have a strong connection, anywhere in the home

Vancouver, B.C. – TELUS announced the launch Boost Wi-Fi, a powerful system that extends the reach of in-home Wi-Fi signals to ensure every corner of the house has a strong and reliable Internet connection. With dead zones eliminated, Boost Wi-Fi ensures that users can video chat in the basement or stream a movie in the bedroom, while smart-home Internet of Things (IoT) devices remain connected no matter where they are in the house.

Wi-Fi signals can lose strength the further away a device is from the Wi-Fi router and common household materials like concrete, in-wall piping, appliances and mirrors can weaken the signal as it travels throughout the home. To eliminate these issues, TELUS Boost Wi-Fi uses a network of “boosters,” up to five per household, to efficiently relay the Wi-Fi signal and create additional hotspots wherever a stronger signal is needed.

TELUS designed Boost Wi-Fi in-house in response to our customers’ demand for increased coverage in the home. Designing in-house also allowed TELUS to ensure the system works in harmony with existing Wi-Fi routers, so TELUS customers can be assured their network of boosters is maximizing Wi-Fi coverage throughout the home. The system is outfitted with Smart Wi-Fi technology that optimizes device performance for a seamless experience as you move from room-to-room, ensuring each device is connected to the optimal booster relative to its location.

TELUS Boost Wi-Fi is simple to set up with step-by-step instructions via the TELUS My Wi-Fi app. The app also allows for easy monitoring and management of the home Wi-Fi network, including the option to pause Wi-Fi if a digital break is needed.
