Ken King joined the TELUS Calgary Community Board as chair in 2010. His longstanding commitment to community service has been recognized with the 2005 Alberta Centennial Medal for outstanding contributions to the province of Alberta and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for community service. Ken leads the charitable efforts of the Flames Foundation for Life, the charitable arm of the Calgary Flames Hockey Club which is committed to supporting Education, Health and Medical Research, and Amateur and Grassroots Sports in Calgary including the Rotary/Flames children’s hospice and the building of much needed community hockey rinks for kids in Calgary.
Ken is president and chief executive officer of the NHL playoff franchise Calgary Flames, alternate governor of the NHL and president and CEO of the Western Hockey League’s Calgary Hitmen. Ken’s current community involvement spans numerous organizations, including the Calgary Committee to End Homelessness, the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede and the Rotary Club of Calgary.
