TELUS Pre-Approved CPA Program

About the Program

The TELUS Pre-Approved CPA Program (the "Program") is a three-year rotational program that provides a range of practical experiences for university graduates to develop their core competencies in accounting.

Each rotation lasts approximately one year and is assigned based on personal interests, business priorities, and your strengths and areas of development. Rotation areas are focused in Vancouver, Edmonton, and Toronto. Rotation teams include, but are not limited to:

• Corporate and Business Unit Controllers

• Capital Management

• Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting

• Corporate Development 

• Taxation

• Financial Operations

• Revenue Assurance

• Internal Audit

• Treasury

• Investor Relations

In addition to a variety of work experiences, the Program also provides:

• Mentorship in which you are mentored by an experienced TELUS Finance CPA-designated team member throughout and beyond the duration of the program;

• CPA designation support in which you will have support in obtaining your CPA designation, including financial support for your studies and an industry-leading CFE prep course; and

• Career growth in which you’ll have the opportunity to apply for available roles within TELUS Finance based on your interest and performance after completing the program.

Co-op Program

If you are not yet a university graduate, the Pre-Approved Co-op Program (the “Co-op Program”) will be more suitable for you. The Co-op Program is available to second and third-year business students participating in a formal co-op program through their post-secondary institution. Co-op students have the same access to mentorship and learning resources as Pre-Approved CPA Program members, with the opportunity to apply to the Pre-Approved CPA program upon graduation.

Recruitment for co-op students occurs in the preceding semester for January and May start dates. Co-op students will be placed in one rotation over a work term that lasts 8 months. Students are required to apply for positions through their co-op office, as well as through TELUS’ online portal.

Application Process

For the Pre-Approved CPA program, we hire for January, June, and October start dates. Applications open in late August, with the posting closing in early September. You can find the application and event invitations through your university career sites.
