Connect additional wireless devices

TELUS wireless home networking enables a wireless device to access the Internet without cables from virtually anywhere in your home. Follow the instructions below to configure your wireless device to connect to your TELUS wireless home network.

Before you begin

Your wireless home network should already be set up. You will need your wireless network name (SSID) and network security key that should be located on your primary computer as TELUS_Wireless_Settings.html on your computer's desktop or in the folder Documents (Vista) or Documents (XP).

Please refer to wireless network setup if you don't have this info, or haven't yet configured your wireless gateway.

Once you have your wireless network name and network security key, follow the steps below on your wireless device.

  • Blackberry Curve 8350i, Blackberry Bold 9700 & Blackberry Storm 2 9550

    step 1 On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon
    step 2 Select Set up Wi-Fi and click on Next
    step 3 Click on Scan for Networks, if prompted click on Turn Wi-Fi on
    step 4 Select your wireless network name
    step 5 Select the 'WEP' security credentials and enter your network security key
    step 6 Click on Connect to join your wireless home network
    step 7 Click Yes in the Save this Wi-Fi Network as a Profile field
    step 8 Type a profile name in the Profile Name field and click on Next
    step 9 Click on Finish to complete your connection to your wireless network.

    You will now be able to connect to the Internet wirelessly on your Blackberry while you are within range of your wireless network.

  • iPhone

    step 1 Select Settings and click on Wi-Fi to turn Wi-Fi on
    step 2 Select your wireless network name and enter your network security key
    step 3 Tap Join to complete your connection

    iPhone will automatically connect to this wireless network whenever it is in range.

  • Palm® Treo™ Pro

    step 1 From the Today Screen click on the Wi-Fi button
    step 2 Click on your wireless network name and click OK
    step 3 Select which network you want to connect to: The Internet(most common) or Work(corporate network)
    step 4 Click on Connect
    step 5 Enter your network security key in the Key Field and click on Connect
    step 6 Launch the browser on your phone to test your connection

  • HTC Touch Pro2, HTC Touch Pro & HTC Snap

    step 1 Click on the top of the display
    step 2 Slide Wi-Fi to on
    step 3 Select your wireless network name tap OK
    step 4 Enter network security key in the pop up window
    step 5 Launch the browser on your phone to test your connection

  • HTC Hero

    step 1 Select Home, then Menu
    step 2 Click Settings , then Wireless Controls
    step 3 Select the Wi-Fi check box to turn Wi-Fi on
    step 4 Click on Wi-Fi settings
    step 5 Select your wireless network name
    step 5 Enter network security key and click on Connect
    step 5 Launch the browser on your phone to test your connection

  • Samsung Omnia

    step 1 From the Today Screen, drag and drop the Wireless Manager widget on the Today Screen
    step 2 Click on the Wi-Fi button to toggle from Wi-Fi off to Wi-Fi on
    step 3 Select your wireless network name
    step 4 Click on The Internet and enter your network security key

  • LG New Chocolate

    step 1 Click the top of the display
    step 2 Slide Wi-Fi to on
    step 3 Select your wireless network name tap OK
    step 4 Enter network security key in the pop up window
    step 5 Launch the browser on your phone to test your connection

    step 1 Select Wireless Manager from the home screen
    step 2 Slide Wi-Fi to on
    step 3 Select your wireless network name tap OK
    step 4 Enter network security key in the pop up window

    step 1 On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon
    step 2 Click Set up Wi-Fi

    3 Perform one of the following actions:

    • Click Scan for Networks, click a wireless network name
    • Click Manually Add Network, type the network name, click Add
    step 4 Complete the instructions on the screen
    step 5 When prompted, save a profile for the Wi-Fi network, click Next
    step 6 Click Finish

    step 1 Touch Menu, Settings and Wireless controls
    step 2 Touch Wi-Fi settings
    step 3 Touch Wi-Fi to turn on and scan
    step 4 Touch Wireless Network Name to connect
    step 5 Enter network security key and touch Connect

  • Motorola Milestone™

    step 1 Tap Menu, Settings, Wireless & networks and Wi-Fi Settings
    step 2 Tap Wi-Fi to turn on and scan
    step 3 Touch Wi-Fi to turn on and scan
    step 4 Tap Wireless Network Name to connect
    step 5 Enter network security key and tap Connect

    step 1 Select Settings and click on Wi-Fi to turn Wi-Fi on
    step 2 Select your wireless network name and enter your network security key
    step 3 Tap Join to complete your connection

    iPod Touch will automatically connect to this wireless network whenever it is in range.

    step 1 Tap on the Wrench icon
    step 2 Scroll over to the third page and select Internet
    step 3 Tap Connection Settings
    step 4 Tap on None in Connection 1
    step 5 Tap Search for an Access Point
    step 6

    Tap on Wireless Network name

    Important Router needs to be set to WEP security to connect

    step 7 Enter your network security key, tap OK

  • Nintendo DSi & Nintendo DSi XL

    step 1 At the setup screen; tap Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings
    step 2 Tap on None in Connection 1
    step 3 Tap Search for an Access Point
    step 4

    Tap on Wireless Network name

    Important Router needs to be set to WEP security to connect

    step 5 Tap Search for an Access Point
    step 6 Enter your network security key, tap OK

  • Xbox 360 S with built in Wi-Fi

    Note: If Xbox is being used as an Optik digital set top box then Wi-Fi will be disabled and should not be used.

    step 1 On the console, go to MY Xbox and then select System Settings.
    step 2 Select Network Settings
    step 3 Select Configure Network
    step 4 On the Basic Settings tab, select Wireless Mode
    step 5 Select Scan for Networks
    step 6

    Select your wireless network name

    Note: If your network name is not listed, try the following:

    1. Select Specify Unlisted Network, and enter your wireless network name.
    2. Select your wireless security: (Ex. WEP, WPA, WPA2 or No Security)
    step 7 Enter your network security key, and then select Done
    step 8 Press B on your controller, and then select Test Xbox Live Connection

  • Playstation 3

    step 1 Confirm that an Ethernet cable is not connected to the PS3 system
    step 2 In the home menu under settings click on Network Settings
    step 3 Click on Internet Connection Settings and click on Yes to confirm that you will be disconnected from the Internet
    step 4 Click on Easy
    step 5 Click on Wireless
    step 6 Click on Scan
    step 7 Click on your wireless network name
    step 8 Under security settings, click on WEP
    step 9 Enter your network security key
    step 10 Save your settings
    step 11 Test your wireless connection by clicking Test Connection

  • Nintendo Wii

    step 1 On the Wii console's main menu click on the Wii button in the lower left corner
    step 2 Click on the Wii Settings
    step 3 In "Wii System Settings" click on the blue arrow to the right to reach the second screen of options
    step 4 Click on Internet
    step 5 Click on Connection Settings
    step 6 Click on the open connection indicated by'None.'
    step 7 Click on Wireless Connection
    step 8 Click on Search for an Access Point
    step 9 Click on your wireless network name and click OK
    step 10 Under'Type of Security' click on WEP
    step 11 Enter network security key
    step 12 Click Confirm to continue
    step 13 Click on Save followed by OK to save your connections settings
    step 14 Click on OK again to start the automatic connection test
